Source detection and localization using a multi-mode detector: a Bayesian approach

چکیده
This paper considers a class of detection/localization problems in which the detector ooers multiple operating modes. The modes diier in their detection performance and geographical coverage: \focused" modes ooer higher detection performance but less coverage area than \broad search" modes. It is assumed that a signal source is to be detected and localized using a sequence of tests, each possibly employing a diierent mode. The goal is to determine a strategy for mode selection in the sequence of tests that will yield optimal payoo in terms of a pre-established criterion. A mathematical model capturing the key characteristics of this situation is proposed and used to develop optimal mode selection strategies.

An alpha-gamma coincidence method, using multi-parameter analyzer (MPA) system in list mode was used for measuring parameters of transuranium sources. The benefit of using the list method is preventing duplication of experiments a lot and thus saving the cost and time taken for this type of testing that due to very small sample rate, spend a lot of time. The multi-parameter analyzer stores the ...
متن کاملA multi-hop PSO based localization algorithm for wireless sensor networks
A sensor network consists of a large number of sensor nodes that are distributed in a large geographic environment to collect data. Localization is one of the key issues in wireless sensor network researches because it is important to determine the location of an event. On the other side, finding the location of a wireless sensor node by the Global Positioning System (GPS) is not appropriate du...
متن کاملMulti-factor failure mode critically analysis using TOPSIS
The paper presents a multi-factor decision-making approach for prioritizing failure modes as an alternative to traditional approach of failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA). The approach is based on the ‘technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution’ (TOPSIS). The priority ranking is formulated on the basis of six parameters (failure occurrence, non-detection, maintainability...
متن کاملTWO-STAGE METHOD FOR DAMAGE LOCALIZATION AND QUANTIFICATION IN HIGH-RISE SHEAR FRAMES BASED ON THE FIRST MODE SHAPE SLOPE
In this paper, a two-stage method for damage detection and estimation in tall shear frames is presented. This method is based on the first mode shape of a shear frame. We demonstrate that the first mode shape slope is very sensitive to the story stiffness. Thus, at the first stage, by using the grey system theory on the first mode shape slope, damage locations are identified in shear frames. Da...
متن کاملDamage detection of multi-girder bridge superstructure based on the modal strain approaches
The research described in this paper focuses on the application of modal strain techniques on a multi-girder bridge superstructure with the objectives of identifying the presence of damage and detecting false damage diagnosis for such structures. The case study is a one-third scale model of a slab-on-girder composite bridge superstructure, comprised of a steel-free concrete deck with FRP rebars...
